FAQs
Do you accept fees contingent on the grant being awarded?
No. There are many factors that impact the outcome of a grant submission and are outside the control of a grant writer. These factors include the applicant pool (quantity and quality), geography, the funder's unspoken preferences, reviewers' experience or unconscious bias, among many others. My commitment to you is to treat your grant application as if it were of my own organization and its future depended on the funding.
Do you accept compensation as a percentage of the grant award?
No. It is against the ethical standards established by the Grant Professionals Association to accept a percentage of a grant award as compensation. The funding is to support your programs or services as outlined in the statement of needs and approach sections in the application. If the awarded fund is improperly used to pay a grant writer, you risk having the fund rescinded and other legal troubles.
Do you work with for-profit organizations?
Yes. To some limited extend, there are grant opportunities open to for-profits. Please contact me to see how I can help.
Do you submit the application in grants.gov?
Yes. Grants.gov can be intimidating, and I will be happy to assist you with this task. We will discuss this in our initial meeting to properly plan for it as the process takes time, especially if you are applying for a federal grant for the first time.
Do you write state and foundation grants?
While I specialize in federal grants, I understand that organizations need to seek diverse funding sources, including funding from state and local governments as well as foundations and private organizations. Federal grants are often the most complex to write, and I am confident that I can help you write non-federal grant applications as well.
