The Process
The first and most important step is getting to know your organization and understanding your needs. This will drive the direction and effort of researching funding opportunities for which you are eligible.
After getting to know your organization, I will research funding opportunities and compile a list of the most relevant ones with a high likelihood of success.
Many organizations do not have a funding strategy or focus. I will help you develop a funding strategy with a funding calendar to systematically target grants for which you are eligible. Often, clients come to me with a grant they happened to come across with only 2-3 weeks before the deadline. Having a funding strategy and funding calendar will help us plan accordingly.
The grant writing process is a collaboration between your subject matter experts and myself. Below are some of the tasks that I will perform:
Reviewing grant instructions/NOFO/Bid
Attending the funder’s webinar, if offered
Creating a project plan
Providing project management according to the project plan
Calls with the organization
Researching data and information to support the grant narrative
Writing of all sections of the grant application (project narrative, budget and budget narrative, etc.) with proper format and citation meeting the funder’s requirements
Revising the draft to meet the client's final approval
Submitting the grant (if requested by the organization)
Each organization is different, and I am happy to customize the process to meet your needs.
Are you grant-ready?
This is probably the most important question as we start the process.
Are you registered with SAM.gov and Grants.gov to apply for a federal grant? Do you have the organizational capacity to apply for a grant? And if funded, do you have the organizational capacity to manage grants? These are just a few critical questions to help answer the bigger question.
To help me understand your grant-readiness, fill out the Grant Intake Form.

Don't wait! A hastily put-together grant application due to time constraints often leaves out details that would set you apart, and it may cost you an opportunity to be funded.
